2023 RIDE SCHEDULE

 

Orr Road 2023 Member Training Ride Calendar At The General Commerce Center

  • NEW FOR 2023

    • All course cones need to be in place BEFORE riding on the course (prior to Training Session).​

    • Training Session (NEW):

      • Once the new Training Session starts, there is NO SEPARATE WARMING UP ON THE COURSE (you must be part of the Training Session peloton to be on the course during the Training Session)

        • Members/guests should be at the line at 5:45pm for the Training Session start. If you are going to be late, send an email to info@orrroad.com to let us know so we can let you inNon-Training Session Members/Guests may NOT enter the course AT ANY TIME until the Open Session starts. TO BE CLEAR, NO WARMING UP ON THE COURSE WHILE THE TRAINING SESSION IS GOING ON!!!

    • Open Session​:

      • Members/Guests waiting for the Open Session to start MUST queue​ up in the designated "pen area" to be established by the Coop at each Open Session.

        • Once the Training Session is finished, the "pen area" will be released to enter the course and MUST go straight to the start line for announcements/instructions. There will be no warm-up laps allowed after the Training Session is finished once you have entered the course for the Open Session.

    • There will be no weekly guest passes for the Open Session. Instead, there will be a number of Orr Road “Open House” nights where Members can bring a guest to the Open Session. These dates are listed below (1 Open House Guest/Member/Day w/waiver). The Training Session is an open community ride for Members and Guests (with waiver).​

AT-LINE TIME: Time at which ALL Member & Guest riders must be at the RIDE START LINE ON-COURSE AREA SHARP!

Rider/band check-in and pre-ride announcements to start immediately.

RIDE START TIME: Official ride start time

TIMED PORTION: Initial part of the total ride duration that is based on the day’s given Timed Portion

TIMED PORTION END CLOCK TIME: Estimated clock time based on Ride Start Time & Timed Portion

+ LAPS:  Final part of the total ride duration that is based on number of laps remaining to end of ride AFTER Timed Portion

has been reached. Lap count begins when the lead rider(s) next crosses the start line after Timed Portion has concluded.

EST. FINISH TIME: Estimated ride finish clock time based on Ride Start Time and projected full ride duration.

SUNSET TIME: Local sunset time. All Orr Road Tuesday Night Training Ride durations are calculated to give ample ride time

back to designated ride meeting points.

ASSIGNED MEMBER BANDS and ID ARE REQUIRED TO RIDE TUE RIDES 

(NO EXCEPTIONS)

All Members are now required to have their INDIVIDUALLY ASSIGNED Member Band

AND IDENTIFICATION in order to participate in Tuesday night rides, no exceptions

(we will be checking that both match)

Member Bands have to be clearly displayed on your bike, or on your person, so that it is

visible from the left side.

Member Bands may NOT be used by anyone except the Member it is assigned to

(only 1 band/membership per individual)

NO Member Administration is conducted at ride venues (i.e. registrations, waivers, Member

bands, guest sign-ups, etc.)EXCEPT Member pre-approved/registered Guest rider band

pickup/return.

GENERAL ORR ROAD COOPERATIVE RIDE RULES

- Respect other riders and be safe, there is no money on the line here.
- Helmets must be worn at all times!
No exceptions.
- No use of tri bars or extensions in the group.

- Riders are to ensure their bike is in good working order for intense riding conditions.

- Use of earphones or other audio devices that would interfere with rider and group safety is prohibited during rides.
- Ride consistent lines, no erratic riding. Be obvious with your intentions and moves.
- Don’t cross wheels or stuff yourself into gaps.
- If you are at the front of the group, you are responsible for keeping the ride smooth & safe
- Minimize vocalizations during the ride. Yelling only serves to increase angst in the group.
- No horse play like hand slings etc. There are less experienced riders out here.
- No public urination. Please use designated area.

- Use a towel for changing as public nudity also does not help our relationship with the park tenants
- Keep it fun.

TUESDAY NIGHT GENERAL COMMERCE RIDE-SPECIFIC RULES

  • NEW FOR 2023

    • All course cones need to be in place BEFORE riding on the course (prior to Training Session).​

    • Riders are NOT allowed to warm-up or otherwise ride continuously in the traffic lane at any time.

    • Training Session (NEW):

      • Once the new Training Session starts, there is NO SEPARATE WARMING UP ON THE COURSE (you must be part of the Training Session peloton to be on the course during the Training Session)

        • Members/guests should be at the line at 5:45pm for the Training Session start, but participants can join the Training Session up until 6:00pm. After this, participation in the day's in the Training Session is closed to late arrivals, and non-Training Session Members/Guests may NOT enter the course until the Main Session starts. 

    • Open Session​:

      • Members/Guests waiting for the Open Session to start MUST queue​ up in the designated "pen area" to be established by the Coop at each Open Session.

        • Once the Training Session is finished, the "pen area" will be released to enter the course and MUST go straight to the start line for announcements/instructions. There will be no warm-up laps allowed after the Training Session is finished once you have entered the course for the Open Session.

  • Ride is run clockwise in General Commerce Center's inside lane (traffic in the outside lane follows normal counter-clockwise pattern):

    • COURSE BOUNDARY is marked by (in order of priority around the course): 

      • Painted center lines/orange cones/enforcement line (existing road seam demarcation). For clarification, riders must stay INSIDE THE COURSE BOUNDARY. A rider is deemed outside the course boundary if they touch/cross onto a painted center line/orange cone/existing road seam demarcation:​

        • IF A RIDER GOES OUTSIDE or BREACHES THE COURSE BOUNDARY DURING A RIDE, REGARDLESS OF REASON, (INCLUDING TOUCHING A CONE), THEY MUST:

          • NOT re-enter the course while the main bunch is still in proximity of the breaching rider, or in the case of a knocked down cone, rider must safely disengage from the group, and replace the cone.

        • IN EITHER CASE OF BREACHED BOUNDARY OR CONE KNOCKDOWN, THE OFFENDING RIDER MAY ONLY RETURN TO THE PELOTON:

          • AFTER the MAIN GROUP has made one full lap around the course without the offending Rider present, and

          • BEHIND THE LAST RIDERS OF THE MAIN GROUP, OR ANY TRAILING GROUP, and

          • When it is safe to do so, IN A SAFE MANNER, FROM THE INSIDE OF THE LONG STRAIGHT-AWAY. INTEGRATION MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE THE NEXT TURN OR THE OFFENDING RIDER MUST WAIT UNTIL THE NEXT LAP TO ATTEMPT INTEGRATION.

          • Note: If the Course Boundary breach or cone knockdown is within the "+" number of laps after Timed period is reached for the respective ride, or the the Offending Rider cannot re-enter with the Main Group BEFORE the start of the "+" laps portion of the ride, the Offending Rider may not re-enter the ride/course until the ride is finished.

  • If you are dropped, and you wish to re-integrate into the group before 5 laps to go, please re-enter the ride/course on the long straightaway at the top of the course FROM THE INSIDE OF THE LANE. Re-integration MUST BE AT THE BACK OF THE FIELD, BEFORE ENTRY INTO THE NEXT TURN (DO NOT INTEGRATE ON THE INSIDE OF ANY TURN).

    • NO COOLING DOWN/NON-INTEGRATING RIDING ON COURSE WHILE ANY RIDE IS IN PROGRESS! You must be an active part of the ride (In a break, in the main bunch, or actively chasing the main bunch).

    • Dropped riders with 5 laps to go (or the "+" number of laps after Timed period is reached for the respective ride) may not re-enter the ride/course until the ride is finished.

  • To avoid confusion during the ride, dropped/retired riders please cool down outside of the course enclosure, but MAY NOT RIDE IN THE TRAFFIC LANE.

ENFORCEMENT OF RIDE RULES, MEMBER CODE OF CONDUCT, AND CLUB POLICIES

  • 1st infraction - Official warning of misconduct item.

  • 2nd infraction - Restriction from next upcoming Orr Road Cooperative Ride

  • 3rd infraction - Orr Road Cooperative committee review for disciplinary membership revocation.

  • Uptown – In front of Hopfly location, formerly Unknown Brewery spot (leaves 5:25pm)

  • NoDa – N. Davidson Fire Station 7 (leaves 5:45pm)

  • Harrisburg – Stallings Road Park (leaves 5:15pm)

Parking:

  • PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON THE COURSE ROADWAYS!

  • You may park on either General Industrial Road, or in the Contractors Flooring parking lot down the street from the General Commerce Center

TRAINING SESSIONS CONCLUDED FOR 2023

Open House Rides (3)

  • On designated Open House nights, Members in good standing (Waiver/Band Pickup completed, no current disciplinary restrictions) may bring one (1) guest to an Open House ride. Member's must send an email to info@orrroad.com with the Guest's name, contact info, and Guest must complete the online Waiver by NOON THE DAY OF THE OPEN HOUSE. We will be printing out the guest list at that time, and Guests will be checked in and given a temporary Guest band which must by worn for the duration of their visit. Guest bands must be returned at the end of the Open House ride.
